The Fílveda waterfall plummets more than 40 metres in successive waterfalls, making it one of the most beautiful and imposing waterfalls in the Montanhas Mágicas.
The force of the river's erosion came up against the fragility of the rocks of magmatic origin found here, overcoming an overall drop of 75 metres (from 400 to 325) in about 200 metres of river.
The Fílveda Waterfall, also known as the Frágua da Pena Waterfall, is located in the village of Bouças in the parish of Silva Escura. It falls from a height of over 40 metres in successive waterfalls. The excellence of this scenery is compounded by its valley, still in its pristine state, a haven of oak and deciduous woodland.
In addition to the beauty of the waterfalls, the valley still preserves the primordial forest, constituting a refuge par excellence for the oak and deciduous forests that have been losing ground to pine and eucalyptus plantations.
This is a medium-difficulty route, with 100 metres of uneven terrain followed by around 70 steps that accompany the waterfall.
Be dazzled by this refreshing and serene environment!
